Redacting and Bundling an Access Request, Start to Finish
How Projects, the editor and Binder cover a freedom-of-information or GDPR access request end to end: redact every document once, then hand over one numbered PDF instead of a folder of separate files.

A request for case documents, whether it’s a GDPR subject access request or what Danish authorities call aktindsigt, usually lands as one case with one deadline attached, not a stream of files to handle one at a time. The person on the other end doesn’t want five separate redacted PDFs and no way to tell them apart; they want to know what they’ve received and be able to point back at a page of it.
A project gives the request a home from the day it comes in: one record for every document that needs checking, under rules set once for this kind of case, rather than something a case worker has to remember to configure each time. Close the project when the response has gone out, and the documents stay there, available if the request is ever revisited, but locked against further changes.
Review still happens once per document, in the same editor used everywhere else in AnteRedact. Nothing about an access request makes this lighter work; if anything, it’s where a missed name matters most, because the recipient is often the one person who would notice. A case worker’s name spelled two different ways across two documents still comes out as one entity, one alias, consistently through the whole response, not something to catch by re-reading every file.
When every document in the project is approved, Binder turns them into one response instead of several: a cover, a table of contents, page numbers, and a stamp on each document so the recipient can refer back to “page 14” and mean something specific, rather than “the third attachment”. Download once, send once, and the record of exactly what was handed over, and in what order, lives in the binder itself.
